1. Rowena (Carpatina) - $98.00.
Pros:
- She's SO FREAKING PRETTY AHH.
- I've never had a doll from Celtic England (as the farthest back AG goes is the 1760s)
- I've never had a doll from Carpatina!
- She's currently on sale (her usual price is $124.00), and I don't want to get another doll, come back to get her later, and have to shell out an extra $26 that I could have saved if I'd bought her now.
Cons:
- Those curls. They're gorgeous, but I'm afraid they might be too hard to manage and/or limit what I can do with her.
- I already have a dress like hers for my AG dolls (although it wouldn't fit her and hers wouldn't fit my AG dolls.)
- I would have to buy her new clothes too, as none of my AG clothes would fit her.
- If I got her, I may not get Elinor (last doll) because of their similar appearances.
2. Lydia (A Girl for All Time) - $110.00.
Pros:
- SHE. IS. SO. PRETTY. AGH. Especially her face mold. Every AGAT doll has a unique one, and hers is my favorite by far.
- I LOVE her time period.
- I've never had an AGAT doll!
- I don't have any dolls who really look like her.
Cons:
- Not a big fan of the meet outfit. It's just a bit too plain.
- I already have a doll from around her time period (Felicity), although I use Felicity as a modern doll and would keep Lydia in her time period.
- I would have to buy her new clothes too, as none of my AG clothes would fit her (although if I did get Elinor (last doll), they could share.)
3. Lea Clark (AG) - $110.00.
Pros:
- Only around for one year - that means I should get her this year if I'm going to, and I shouldn't wait until the last minute either.
- HAIR GOALS GUYS.
- Diversity - yay!
- My AG clothes would fit her.
Cons:
- I don't like her face mold. AT ALL. I've had a hard time connecting with any of my dolls with that face mold (except Rebecca), and all the dolls that have come out with that mold I've never really liked (Nellie, Chrissa, etc.). I don't want to spend over a hundred dollars on her and then not connect with her. I think I'd have to see her in person to tell, but none of my friends have her and my parents don't take me to AG places anymore. *sigh*
- I've really been wanting more historical dolls lately, and ones I would keep in their time period (which I would do with Rowena, Lydia, and the next doll I'm going to show you.)
4. Elinor (A Girl for All Time) - probably $110.00.
~ Elinor's not out yet, but she's due to arrive sometime this year (September/October ish) ~
Pros:
- Okay, first of all, Elizabethan England? How cool is that?!?
- She shares my name, which is awesome.*
- I've never had an AGAT doll.
- SHE. IS. SO. PRETTY. I. CAN'T. STAND. IT.
- Her face mold is right up there with Lydia's.
Cons:
- I seriously have zero clue how to care for that hair. I suppose some tutorials would come out when she did, though.
- Not a HUGE fan of her MO, although I could live with it.
- If I got her, I may not get Rowena, due to their similar appearances.
- My AG clothes wouldn't fit her, although if I also got Lydia they could share clothes.
- Also, the image you see of Elinor above is a prototype, so idk if she'll look like that when she comes out. She'll probably be really close, but still.
Which doll do you guys think I should get?? Comment below your top 1-3 (reasons would be nice, but you don't have to if you don't want to). Thanks, it would really help me out!!

*I mean, we spell it differently. But it's the thought that counts.
I would get Lea!

I'm honestly very biased, and I really only like AG dolls, (in terms of the 18 inch-ish range that is) but I would get Lea. I see what you mean by the face mold issue, and I really only liked the classic one for awhile, (wow great going there Jenni that was a great mindset) but the Josefina mold has really grown on me. :)
ReplyDeleteAND YES HER HAIR IS WONDERFUL

Thank you! It's nice to get some feedback from someone who owns Lea.

Hi! I've never commented here before, but I've been looking around on your blog for a week or so now, and I really like what you've got!
ReplyDeleteSo I'm seeing a lot of support for Lea, and while she's a pretty doll, I think there are some other great dolls here too. Plus I have a huge soft spot for historical dolls so...
1) Lydia. Agree with you wholeheartedly on the time period and the face mold. She's one of the most gorgeous dolls I've ever seen, and she adds so much diversity to your group. However you're right about the meet outfit. It's SO boring. As opposed to...
2) Rowena. HER MEET OUTFIT IS SO BEAUTIFUL AH. And Celtic England! And she's on sale! However, that hair might be difficult. And you haven't got any other dolls of her brand (on the list or just in general), so she won't be able to share clothes at all. As opposed to...
3) Lea. Okay, I'm biased. I don't like Lea at all. I don't know why. I like the Josefina mold. It just doesn't look that good on her. I will admit, her hair is awesome, and you know, she's pretty unique. And she'd fit in better with the rest of your dolls. But seriously, I just really prefer historical dolls. Such as...
4) Elinor. She's really gorgeous and OH MY GOSH HER TIME PERIOD THOUGH. Okay but she hasn't come out yet. That's a prototype picture. And she'll be around for a while (unlike Lea and Rowena who are on a time limit). I'd get her eventually (personally I don't think she and Rowena look TOO much alike, but I'm the person who's not getting Maryellen due to her looking like a combination of Nellie and Lanie, who I both have, so...). But don't rush into it. Plus her hair... It looks like a bigger nightmare than Cecile's. Though it's gorgeous as heck. Just saying.
So that was a long first comment. Rambling is fun!

DUUUUUDE I LITERALLY AGREE WITH YOU WHOLE-HEARTEDLY. That's exactly the way they're ordered in my mind! Atm, I'm leaning toward Lydia.

I feel that you should get Rowena because she is a gorgeous doll from a brand that you don't yet have. Also as a bonus, she is on sale!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the feedback!
