Katherine of Carpenchia: Episode 8

In a rustle of movement, a figure burst through the path in front of them. "Caihanna?" Celine gasped. "Elsie? What are you doing here?"

"We were captured by the Lady Marella," replied Caihanna. It took every ounce of self-control she had to not sink to her knees in relief. Her whole body felt like jello. "But we escaped."

"Oh!" cried Celine, and enveloped Caihanna in a hug. The maid stiffened, then let her mistress hug her. "I am so glad you're all right!"

Celine pulled away. "I should never have sent you into such danger, Elsie, Caihanna. I ow-"

Elsie could not stand it one second longer. "Lady Marella is a murderer!" she shouted. "She tried to kill the Queen Katherine, and she did kill the late Queen Illiandra!"

Caihanna nodded. "All that is true." She went on to explain more in detail what Lady Marella had revealed.

Celine let out a low, long breath. Her blue eyes, which were the color of ice, turned the temperature of ice, too. "We must get news to Katherine immediately," she said. "I came because I could not let her off alone. Heaven knows what trouble she would get into. And now here we are. It's a miracle we intercepted each other!" She turned back to her horse. "We must make for Katherine's camp immediately!"

Katherine i'Fartha Del'Tavinrone II walked pensively among the trees on the outskirts of camp. Her mind was a whirlwind of thoughts about the battle ahead.

Suddenly, she heard a shout behind her. Probably some idiot young soldiers, she thought. Really, I must talk to General Xavius about - then she turned around.

"KATHERINE!" cried Elsie, running towards her. Right behind came Celine leading her gelding and Caihanna fussing about her skirts.

Katherine's eyes went wide as saucers. "What?" she gasped. "Elsie? Celine? Caihanna? How did you get here?"

"My Queen Katherine!" exclaimed Elsie.

They embraced.

"Celine!" cried Katherine. For of all these friends she now saw, Celine was the one she had yearned to see most.

"Katherine!"

They embraced as well.

"But tell me," said Katherine, "what are you doing here?"

"Lady Marella is a traitor!" shouted Elsie. "A dirty, rotten traitor!"

"Calm down, you'll alert the whole camp," scolded Caihanna.

"It is true," said Celine. She then proceeded to explain everything Elsie and Caihanna had told her.

"I knew it," hissed Katherine under her breath. Hatred boiled up in her. "We will ambush their ambush, then. That will take them doubly by surprise. Now, all of you should go to the tents. I'll talk with General Xavius about arrangement-"

"No," cut in Celine firmly. "I did not ride all the way out here to sit in a tent and sip tea while my best friend went out and risked her life."

"Nor me!" squeaked Elsie.

"Nor me," agreed Caihanna.

"If you're going to war," Celine said soberly, "we're coming with you."

Katherine closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She could not send her friends into danger. She simply couldn't! What kind of friend would she be then? What would her mother think? But....if she did not bring them and keep an eye on them, they might rush into battle during the heat of things and get themselves killed. She exhaled and opened her eyes. "Yes."

Help??

I CAN'T DECIDE WHICH DOLL TO GET GUYS AGH HELP. I'm stuck between four (oops).

1. Rowena (Carpatina) - $98.00.

Pros:

  • She's SO FREAKING PRETTY AHH.
  • I've never had a doll from Celtic England (as the farthest back AG goes is the 1760s)
  • I've never had a doll from Carpatina!
  • She's currently on sale (her usual price is $124.00), and I don't want to get another doll, come back to get her later, and have to shell out an extra $26 that I could have saved if I'd bought her now.

Cons:

  • Those curls. They're gorgeous, but I'm afraid they might be too hard to manage and/or limit what I can do with her.
  • I already have a dress like hers for my AG dolls (although it wouldn't fit her and hers wouldn't fit my AG dolls.)
  • I would have to buy her new clothes too, as none of my AG clothes would fit her.
  • If I got her, I may not get Elinor (last doll) because of their similar appearances.

2. Lydia (A Girl for All Time) - $110.00.

Pros:

  • SHE. IS. SO. PRETTY. AGH. Especially her face mold. Every AGAT doll has a unique one, and hers is my favorite by far.
  • I LOVE her time period.
  • I've never had an AGAT doll!
  • I don't have any dolls who really look like her.

Cons:

  • Not a big fan of the meet outfit. It's just a bit too plain.
  • I already have a doll from around her time period (Felicity), although I use Felicity as a modern doll and would keep Lydia in her time period.
  • I would have to buy her new clothes too, as none of my AG clothes would fit her (although if I did get Elinor (last doll), they could share.)

3. Lea Clark (AG) - $110.00.

Pros:

  • Only around for one year - that means I should get her this year if I'm going to, and I shouldn't wait until the last minute either.
  • HAIR GOALS GUYS.
  • Diversity - yay!
  • My AG clothes would fit her.

Cons:

  • I don't like her face mold. AT ALL. I've had a hard time connecting with any of my dolls with that face mold (except Rebecca), and all the dolls that have come out with that mold I've never really liked (Nellie, Chrissa, etc.). I don't want to spend over a hundred dollars on her and then not connect with her. I think I'd have to see her in person to tell, but none of my friends have her and my parents don't take me to AG places anymore. *sigh*
  • I've really been wanting more historical dolls lately, and ones I would keep in their time period (which I would do with Rowena, Lydia, and the next doll I'm going to show you.)

4. Elinor (A Girl for All Time) - probably $110.00.

~ Elinor's not out yet, but she's due to arrive sometime this year (September/October ish) ~

Pros:

  • Okay, first of all, Elizabethan England? How cool is that?!?
  • She shares my name, which is awesome.*
  • I've never had an AGAT doll.
  • SHE. IS. SO. PRETTY. I. CAN'T. STAND. IT.
  • Her face mold is right up there with Lydia's.

Cons:

  • I seriously have zero clue how to care for that hair. I suppose some tutorials would come out when she did, though.
  • Not a HUGE fan of her MO, although I could live with it.
  • If I got her, I may not get Rowena, due to their similar appearances.
  • My AG clothes wouldn't fit her, although if I also got Lydia they could share clothes.
  • Also, the image you see of Elinor above is a prototype, so idk if she'll look like that when she comes out. She'll probably be really close, but still.

Which doll do you guys think I should get?? Comment below your top 1-3 (reasons would be nice, but you don't have to if you don't want to). Thanks, it would really help me out!!

Namarië,
Ellie
